Just one week after his appearance in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Augusto Farfus is in action at one the highlights of the 2018 season – the fourth DTM round at Germany’s Norisring. The short 2.3 kilometre track in the city of Nuremberg is the only street circuit in the calendar and thanks to the unique atmosphere it is also called the “Franconian Monaco”.

In today’s first race of the weekend, however, Augusto’s hopes for points were unfulfilled. The BMW Team RMG driver qualified 12th in his Shell BMW M4 DTM. In the race, on the circuit that only comprises four tight corners, he had some great battles but was unable to improve into the points positions. After 68 laps, Augusto crossed the line in 14th.

“We were lacking pace and struggled to find grip on the car,” Augusto reported. “When the tyres are reasonably fresh, we have a good speed but as soon as performance drops off we completely lose the pace so it was not a good one. Let’s work overnight to find something for tomorrow.”

Tomorrow, Sunday, the action at Norisring will start FP3 from 08.30 to 09.00. Qualifying will follow from 11.10 to 11.30 and the eighth race of the year starts at 13.33.
