Sunday’s Nürburgring race was a special milestone for Augusto Farfus in which the driver from Curitiba contested his 100th DTM race. Giving a strong performance in his Shell BMW M4 DTM, Augusto collected more points by finishing in seventh position. The Nürburgring, home track for Augusto’s BMW Team RMG, hosted the eighth round of the 2018 DTM season.

In the morning’s qualifying, Augusto struggled to repeat yesterday’s pace and qualified 13th on the grid, but when the lights turned off for the 16th race of the season, Augusto started his fight towards the points positions. He made strong overtaking manoeuvres, and by lap 11 had moved up into the top-eight. On lap 18, Augusto completed his mandatory pit stop and after 55 minutes full of race action, he crossed the line in seventh place.

“I am pleased with the result”, Augusto summed up after the race. “In the end I could not do much more from where I was starting. We had a strong race pace and a strong car in the race but we need to put the car upfront in qualifying if we want to get better results. I am pleased with P7 but we have some more work to do.”

The 2018 DTM season resumes in two weeks’ time with the penultimate round at the Austrian Red Bull Ring at Spielberg.
