The sun was shining over Germany’s Lausitzring but that was only a little help to lighten Augusto Farfus’ mood after this Sunday’s fourth race of the 2018 DTM season. After a difficult day, the BMW Team RMG driver had to settle for 16th position.
Free practice in the morning had not been easy and in qualifying, Augusto was classified 12th. That opened the possibility of scoring more points in his Shell BMW M4 DTM but during the race, the driver from Curitiba dropped positions and crossed the line in 16th. His team-mate Marco Wittmann was the highest placed BMW driver, finishing second on the podium.
“We struggled to find the right compromise on set-up to get grip over the whole weekend, so it was not an easy one,” Augusto summed up. “Now we have a weekend off and the break allows us to re-think and find the right direction for Budapest.”
The Hungaroring near the Hungarian capitol will host the third DTM round of the 2018 season in two weeks’ time: “Budapest was a good track for us last year. It is a place I like so lets get there and try to crack on.”
The fifth and sixth race of the season will take place at the Hungaroring on 2nd and 3rd June.
