It is again with disappointment that Augusto Farfus leaves the third round of the 2017 DTM season at the Hungaroring. After he was on course to score points but was hit by another competitor in Saturday’s race, the BMW Team RMG driver was highly motivated to score a strong result on Sunday.

In the morning’s qualifying he finished ninth in his Shell BMW M4 DTM, and he was determined to transfer this grid position into a points result. However, Augusto struggled to stay within the top ten in the race that was characterised by traffic and strategic decisions. After 35 laps, he crossed the line again in 12th place.

“Over the entire race we were stuck in traffic, and it was just impossible to do more,” Augusto reported. “It is really frustrating as our plan was to improve, but this did not work out. What else can I say? It was not our weekend.”

The driver from Curitiba has put that behind him now and is focusing on the next DTM races that will be in two weeks’ time on 1st and 2nd July at the iconic German Norisring.

“The Norisring is the coolest event of the whole year,” he said. “The crowd is massive and the track seems to have a very simple layout in theory, but, in fact, it is very difficult to get it right. The temperatures are usually very hot there, and with its bumps, long straights and tight hairpins it is a unique challenge. I like it there because you are very close to the fans. I hope that BMW can be successful there this year.”
