Augusto Farfus continues being busy: after the 2018 DTM season opener at Hockenheim two weeks ago and the 24-hour race at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife last weekend, he is now in action with BMW Team RMG at Germany’s Lausitzring for the second round of DTM. In today’s third race of the season Augusto finished in the points again in his Shell BMW M4 DTM, crossing the line in tenth place.

The driver from Curitiba had qualified 16th on today’s grid. The race turned out to be a dramatic one. After a crash at the start with a lot of debris, the field drove behind the Safety Car for 15 minutes and shortly after the IndyCar-style re-start, the race had to be red-flagged due to another severe crash. When the race finally re-started there were 21 minutes left on the clock. Augusto was in tenth place at that time and held his position after everyone had pitted in the final 15 minutes.

“It was just about survival in this race,” Augusto reported afterwards. “This weekend, we haven’t yet managed to find the grip and we are struggling with the balance in general. But we scored a point and the car is in a good shape so hopefully we can do something better tomorrow.”

Tomorrow, Sunday, the action will start for Augusto with FP3 from 09.00 to 09.30. Qualifying will follow from 11.25 to 11.45 and the fourth race of the year starts at 13.33.
