Augusto Farfus has to leave the German Norising empty-handed. After finishing 14th in Saturday’s race on the Nuremberg street circuit, the BMW Team RMG driver had to settle with 17th in today’s eighth race of the 2018 DTM season after another driver sent him into a spin.

Over the weekend, Augusto and the team struggled to find pace for his Shell BMW M4 DTM. In this morning’s qualifying he finished 14th. In the race, Augusto had a great start and made up places. He set his sights on the points positions but could not maintain the pace that he had hoped for. On lap 51 another car hit the back of his Shell BMW M4 DTM and he spun. Augusto was able to continue the race but was robbed of any chance of scoring a decent result. The race was won by his team-mate and local hero Marco Wittmann.

“We didn’t improve enough on yesterday’s performance. I had no chance to attack,” Augusto reported. “The start went well but then I just didn’t have the pace again. I got spun and that pushed me back further. Congratulations to Marco and the team on the win.”

“We need to find the turning point on the car to make it work,” Augusto continued. But he keeps his spirits high – and is determined to attack again when the 2018 DTM season resumes in three weeks in The Netherlands: “Zandvoort is a highlight. Last year it was my best weekend of the year. We performed super well there and I am really looking forward to it. It is one of the best tracks of the year so I can’t wait to get there and just push.”

The Zandvoort races, number nine and ten of the season, will be held on 14th and 15th July.
